Announcements:

2010-2011 MARCHING BAND INFORMATION

  • The 2010 Kempsville High School Marching Chiefs' production is entitled Things That Go Bump in the Night.  This show will be very audience oriented, playing some Classical music along with some movie soundtrack music as well.

  • Band Camp Schedule:   Aug. 9-13 & Aug. 16-20.  The rehearsal times of these two weeks are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Both weeks are required for all students!  This is the same week as this past August.  Family vacations, trips, etc. should be planned so they will not conflict with band camp. Our first public performance will be on Thursday, August 27th at the home football game.

  • The 2010 KEMPSVILLE CLASSIC will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010.  Again this year, we will be sanctioned thru the United States Band Association.  Let's hope for another great day...and wonderful weather like we were blessed with last year!

  • U.S.S.B.A. Nationals will be November 6-7 in Annapolis, MD again this year.  Mark these dates on your calendar.

  • Spring Trip - NEW YORK CITY !!!   Thursday, March 31 to Sunday, April 3 2011.  For more information contact Sandi Levi at kempsvillehighbpa@cox.net.

BAND BOOSTERS

The Band Booster organization is the backbone of any successful band program.  All parents are invited to support the band through volunteering your time and talents.  The Band Parent Association assists the director and the students through activities such as attending monthly meetings, chaperoning, working at the Kempsville Classic and concession stands at football games, fund raising, etc.  All students and parents/guardians are expected to participate in fund raising activities.  A complete list of officers is available on the KHSBPA page.  Please contact them to offer your assistance.  Also, parents are invited to attend the Band Parent Association general meetings which are scheduled for the second Monday night of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the KHS band room.  Below is a list of our general meetings.
