It is with great JOY and tremendous PRIDE I announce that the Kempsville High School Band has been named a 2011 VIRGINIA HONOR BAND!  The Wind Ensemble (Grade VI music) and Symphonic Band (Grade IV music) each received overall ratings of SUPERIOR at the 2011 Virginia Band and Orchestra Director’s Association District II Concert Band Assessment.  The Wind Ensemble received 27-A’s and only one B+!!! This achievement is a combination of their SUPERIOR ratings from the Concert Band Assessment and the Marching Band Assessment.
This is the 20th time Kempsville High School Band has been named a VIRGINIA HONOR BAND.  With this great accomplishment, the Kempsville High School Band becomes the first band from Virginia Beach City Public Schools, and only the seventh from the entire state, to be named into the VBODA Hall of Fame.

BAND BOOSTERS
 The Band Booster organization is the backbone of any successful band program.  All parents are invited to support the band through volunteering your time and talents.  The Band Parent Association assists the director and the students through activities such as attending monthly meetings, chaperoning, working at the Kempsville Classic and concession stands at football games, fund raising, etc.  All students and parents/guardians are expected to participate in fund raising activities.  A complete list of officers is available on the KHSBPA page.  Please contact them to offer your assistance.  Also, parents are invited to attend the Band Parent Association general meetings which are scheduled for the second Monday night of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the KHS band room.  Below is a list of our general meetings.
6 August:  Band Parents Picnic/Pool Party and Meeting.   Starts at 3:00 p.m.
